What is an Access Point?
What is an access point (AP)? Why do I need an access point if I already have a router?
An access point is a device that creates a wireless local area network, or WLAN. An access point connects to a wired router via an Ethernet cable, and projects a WiFi signal to a designated area.
Our access points will use your internet service provider's network to broadcast a guest network that uses captive WiFi portals to collect guest information. Traditional routers aren't able to broadcast a captive WiFi portal when devices connect to the network, which is why a Unifi access point is necessary to use StayFi.
If you already have a Unifi access point at your property, reach out to support@stayfi.com to add it to your StayFi account.
